Treat your taste buds to a long weekend in the Winelands. The 17th addition of the South African Cheese Festival is taking place from Friday, 27 April (Freedom Day) to Sunday, 29 April.

This award-winning festival is the biggest outdoor culinary event, showcasing a selection of local cheese makers and their wares. It is annually hosted at the Sandringham Farm, which is a 20 minute drive from Stellenbosch. Visitors can once again expect a truly unique experience. They will be able to feast their senses on the widest selection of cheese currently available in South Africa. Whether you have a well-trained palate, simply enjoy savouring new tastes, or are looking for the perfect cheese match among the delicacies galore – wine, nuts and olives to name but a few - you will again be spoiled for choice at the Annual SA Cheese Festival. Entertainment includes outstanding music, presentations by celebrity chefs and artisan cheese makers, as well as fun activities for kids and teens such as a cheese carving competition.

Tickets are available at Computicket (online and in Shoprite and Checkers stores) at R180 per person per day. Senior citizens pay R120 and children from 2 to 13 years pay R20. No tickets will be sold at the gates. The festival times are from 10:00 to 18:00 daily. Sandringham is located next to the N1, Stellenbosch turn-off (exit 39), between Cape Town and Paarl.
