I had purchased a Groupon voucher some months earlier and since this was the first time that I would be redeeming such a voucher for use at a Guest House, I was unsure of what standard of accommodation and surrounds to expect. Needless to say, I was totally "wowed" with the beauty of the Guest House and the gorgeous gardens. Our room was lovely - like a little piece of France. I loved all the little "treasures" (well-read books; antique bottles; collectable wall plates etc.) that are strewn throughout the rooms and the beautiful garden filled with all things bright and beautiful, including clay pots filled with cacti, reminded me of sunny days spent at my late gran's house as a curious child inspecting what the garden had to offer. "The manager who checked us in (her name may have been Annemien but I'm not sure) on Nov. 12 and out the following morning was a marvel of unflappable stress resistance as she cheerfully helped an endless stream of arriving and departing guests and dealt with phone inquiries. When no room was available for us for a second night, on her own initiative she rang up a nearby guesthouse, which turned out to be perfect for our needs. If we visit Stellenbosch again one day, as I hope we will, we'll definitely return to the Bonne Esperance, this time booking in advance and spending more than just one night so that we can fully enjoy the lovely living room and the magical garden. "Dear Bonne Esperance We loved the idea of staying in a B&B with history and character. We liked that even though the fascade of the building was steeped in history the rooms were modern. The front garden is beautiful and is an instant stress reliever! There was a charming ambience about the place... We specifically loved your homemade breads and that there was a different breakfast option every morning. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful especially on what attractions and restaurants were recommended in the area. We defefinitley had value for money and have suggested Bonne Esperance to our friends and family already.
